Dr Bower keeps giving back to the organization by holding numerous positions locally, regionally and internationally. She served as STTI International President from 1993-1995. In 2014, our induction featured Dr Fay Bower as our keynote presenter. Her keynote address was on Nursing Leadership and Professional Practice recognizing the importance of belonging to the honor society of nursing. Her address was compelling and invigorating. Fay’s dedication and contribution to the honor society of nursing continues to astound all with her contributions to the nursing profession. Maya Angelou said it best, “As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Thank you Dr Bower for touching our hearts!
2015 INDUCTION AND SPRING PROGRAM
We commemorated our 52nd anniversary with Sigma Theta Tau International by having our induction at Mariani’s Inn and Restaurant. Our Induction welcomed 70 undergrads, 2 graduate students and 2 community members. We welcome our newest members to the Alpha Gamma Chapter family of Sigma Theta Tau International.

Our keynote address featured a panel presentation moderated by Myra Sternlieb, Past President (2010-2012). Myra featured a panel of our Student Interns whom shared their own experiences as a student nurse. Our interns who presented were: Danielle Bohnhoff, Jessica, Han, and Michelle Nguyen. These interns presented nursing practice through the eyes of an apprentice and reminded us about the essence of nursing.
Florence Nightingale quoted, “So never lose an opportunity of urging a practical beginning, however small, for it is wonderful how often in such matters the mustard-seed germinates and roots itself.” Our student interns reflect the influence of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International by being mentored to grow and develop into a professional nurse as evidenced by the care and dignity they provide for our patients and families. It is with great appreciation to Myra, Danielle, Jessica, and Han for sharing their practice with us. Thank you for a wonderful keynote address.
